Initial situation
After the renovation was complete, the client discovered uneven walls, voids beneath tiles and gaps at junctions, and became involved in a wider dispute with the contractor over the quality of the finishes.
What needed to be documented
- the nature and location of defects or damage;
- which documents and source materials support the client's position;
- how the results can be used in a formal claim, negotiations or court;
- what further scope of work or remedial measures can be discussed.
Practical outcome
For this case, photographs were collected by room, the main defects were documented and a technical basis was prepared for a formal claim against the service provider.
This case study format shows a practical model of a construction expert's work rather than an abstract service: inspection, organisation of defects, preparation of written material and assistance in developing a position in the dispute.
